  • A special issue on "Conceptualising Communication" recently published in the Australian Journal of Linguistics (Volume 29, Issue 1, January 2009) which arose out of the "HCSNet Workshop on Conceptualising Communication" (8-9 December 2005) aims to extend our understanding of how communication is understood and treated in linguistics and related disciplines, to examine their impact on patterns of research and theory-building, and to explore the possibility of a new conceptualization of communication that facilitates greater cross-disciplinary research. The above paper on "Communicating about communication" gives an overview of all the papers in the special issue as well as the broader discussion at the Conceptualising Communication workshop.
