Research Interests

Knowledge representation/semantics in the brain and AI, its architecture and retrieval are my primary research areas. I have presented some of my ideas on the role of multi sensory-motor modality in semantics at the HCSNet Workshop on Computational Modelling (2006), Neuroscience of speech, language, and communication (2008), Next-Generation Search Technology (2008/9) and Speed papers in SummerFest 06 and 08. After 25 years as practising Speech Pathologist, clinical research in the area of neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders I have moved in the area of Quality and Safety in Health Services. I work full-time as a Quality Manager at Area Clinical Governance Unit, South Eastern Sydney/Illawara Area Health Service, NSW Health. In 2008 I was awarded scholarship by School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, Ballarat University to do Ph. D. as a part-time student. My thesis aim to; a) develop a prediction model of sentinal events in health industry, b) validating current Severity Assessment Categories (SAC) definitons wiht user's interpretation using computational model, c) develop an intelligent system that can provide immediate feedback, reports and appropriate recommendations from the systems memory to the managers and d)providing key indicators to be monitored or alerted to prevent harm to patients from taking place.
