Research Interests

I am interested in technologies that help people learn and collaborate. The type of technologies that we normally focus on are web based, and they themselves learn about users and their activities using machine learning algorithms. We have recently worked on language technologies for supporting academic writing, were we aim at providing meaningful feedback and triggers for reflection. Since 2008 we are looking beyond writing as a cognitive activity. We are studying new approaches to understand affect, and build affective technologies. The projects I enjoy most are in interdisciplinary teams such as those promoted by HCSNet. A recent paper: "Mining Text with Pimiento". J. J. García Adeva and Rafael Calvo. IEEE Internet Computing.
