Research InterestsPaul Foulkes gained his PhD at the University of Cambridge. He currently holds the position of Reader at the University of York, where he is course director of the MSc in Forensic Speech Science. His research and teaching interests lie in phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, language acquisition and forensic speech science. His publications include Urban Voices (Arnold 1999) and articles in Language, Journal of Phonetics, Journal of Linguistics, Language and Speech, Journal of Sociolinguistics and Laboratory Phonology. He conducts forensic casework for J P French Associates, York, and is co-editor of The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law. He has provided training in forensic speech analysis for the US Secret Service and FBI. He will be a keynote speaker for the Voice and Voice Disorders workshop at SummerFest '08.
