Research Interests

My Main research interest is in the genre analysis of vertical discourses in different disciplines, with a focus on the role of power in the creation of new language and the distribution and circulation of knowledge. I am interested in finding how knowledge and expertise are formed and structured in different disciplines in Persian and English and how the selective organization, transmission and evaluation of knowledge is bound up with the patterns of power, control and authority. My current research makes use of Systemic Functional Grammar as a framework for the analysis of knowledge structures and vertical discourses. I am currently working on the transitivity system of Persian which will be used as a tool for the analysis of Persian texts.
