Research InterestsMy Main research interest is to investigate vertical discourses in different disciplines, with a focus on the role of power in the creation of new language and the distribution and circulation of knowledge in English and Persian. This study attempts to explore how knowledge and expertise are formed and structured differently due to the impact of the practices of power, control, social structures and culture. The theoretical approaches that are used in this study are the Systemic Functional Linguistics concepts of text and discourse, Critical Discourse Analysis concept of power, the metafunctional aspects of linguistic meanings, the relation of language to its semiotic and social environment and genre theory. My current research makes use of Systemic Functional Grammar as a framework for the analysis of the grammar of Persian and also employs genre theory as a tool for the exploration and analysis of schematic structures of the chosen data in two languages.
