Research Interests

Main research interest is the semantic side of Natural Language Processing, that is, helping machines understand utterances. Specifically my focus is on both developing shallow semantic parsers capable of disambiguating word senses and semantic roles, and its complement, namely, building large semantic knowledge bases reusing existing knowledge and acquiring new one from corpora. I also study applications of such techniques in other intermediate tasks such as parsing and textual entailment, and final applications like Information Retrieval (including its cross-lingual and question-answering variants) and Machine Translation.
