Research InterestsI am interested in speech motor control in adults and its development in children.
During my PhD, I focused on the acquisition of anticipatory coarticulation in French children (with a longitudinal follow up of 8 children from 3 to 8 years old). I collected acoustic as well as articulatory data (in between lip area and upper lip protrusion which are both crucial for vowels acoustics) at ICP (Grenoble, France).
I also realized a comparative study of anticpatory coarticulation in American English and Canadian French adults in collaboration with Le Laboratoire de Phonetique (UQAM, Montreal). We tried to look at vocalic anticipatory patterns and their temporal extension with respect to the traditional coarticulation models.
I am currently working at Haskins Laboratories (New Haven, USA), on a project investigating links between speech perception and production. I mainly use Ultrasound and Optotrak systems for the collection of labial and lingual data.
I am also working in collaboration with the Laboratoire de Phonetique (UQAM, Montreal) on the developement of speech with a particular interest in motor control. We are interested in exploring the acquisition of supralaryngeal articulators control to conform to the phonological norms of their native language.
