SummerFest '07

Welcome

HCSNet is pleased to bring you the 2007 SummerFest, to be held at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) from 3-7 December. We have a terrific program of events this year…lots of the old stuff we know you enjoy but also plenty of new events and activities to keep you up-to-date with the ever changing world of Human Communication Science.

Keynote Speakers

We have our biggest line-up of keynote speakers ever this year! Over the 5 days of SummerFest we will be featuring 12 keynote speakers, including international and local experts and a Supreme Court judge. More details can be found here.

2007 SummerFest Events

  • The HCSNet Summer School will consist of twelve 3 hour topics spread over Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 December. Sample topics include: corpus linguistics, communication disorders, speech processing and text generation. Please remember that our Summer School is not just for students, it’s open to all SummerFest participants.

  • The Student Poster Evening will be held on the evening of Monday 3 December. The poster session is a great way for students to showcase the research they have been working on over the past year and the evening is always a lot of fun. A relaxed social event for everyone! Submissions now closed.

  • The HCSNet Speed Papers session is one of our favourites! We’ll be aiming to get through as many 4-minute “speed papers” as possible during the morning of Wednesday 5 December. Come along and give a speed paper… you won’t be disappointed.

  • The International Conference on Music Communication Science will be brought you by HCSNet and AMPS and held over 3 days from Wednesday 5 to Friday 7 December. We are really excited about this conference which promises to deliver first-class research papers and enchanting performances. Submissions are now closed for ICOMCS.

  • Our annual Conference Dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday 6 December. This is always a great night with plenty of good food, wine and friends. We encourage all SummerFest participants to come along and enjoy the evening.

  • HCSNet is teaming up with HXi to bring you a 2 day workshop on Collaboration and Communicative Tools for Distributed Communities to be held Thursday 6 and Friday 7 December. The workshop will be brought to you by Barbara Kelly from the University of Melbourne and Robert McArthur of the CSIRO. Submissions now closed.

  • Our final event is the very exciting Forensic Speaker Recognition Workshop to be held over 2 days on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 December. This is shaping up to be one of our best workshops ever with presentations by five highly renown speakers and Supreme Court Justice David Hodgson. Submissions now closed.
