1 Concept and Requirements
The core elements of the HCSNet International Visiting Speaker Program are
as follows:
- Funding will be provided for up to six International Visiting Speakers
each year.
- For each visiting speaker there will be a host person (the applicant)
and institution at which the primary talk, seminar or colloquium would be
given.
- In addition, and in order to engage HCSNet people around Australia,
there should be two additional talks by the speaker in cities or regions
other than that of the host institution. The responsibility for organising
of these lies with the host, typically in co-ordination with colleagues at
those other institutions.
2 Applications
Applications must be lodged by an HCSNet member. Applications should
include:
- the reason for the visit;
- information regarding the international visitor, including a CV;
- brief information about the host person and host institution;
- the focus, titles, and institutions and locations at which the talks
will be given;
- whether the application falls into one of the HCSNet Priority Areas;
- the regional links that will be made;
- a budget explaining how the funds will be used; and
- an itinerary.
Applications should be no more than 3-4 pages in length, not including the visitor's CV.
3 Funding
Funding is set at $3500 with an extra $500 being provided if the application
falls into one of the HCSNet Priority Areas.
4 Reporting
A one-page report will be required at the conclusion of the visit. This
should include a summary of the itinerary, titles and abstracts of the
presentations that were given, the attendance at the presentations, general
observations, outcomes and possible links that arise from the visit.
Applications should be sent by email as either Word or PDF attachments to
programs@hcsnet.edu.au with the subject line 'Application for International
Visiting Speaker Program'.
