The main aim of the conference is to develop guidelines for building online annotation and browsability of ethnographic media. Presentations are invited on issues related to the annotation of fieldwork related media, recognising that, by building new ways of interacting with research data, we will be creating potential new research issues, and novel ways of addressing old research questions. The conference will include time for discussion and a workshop on February 17th to train participants in using the various current annotation tools.
Current presentations include:
Michel Jacobson (CNRS-LACITO, Paris): Building online XML representations of field recordings
Jane Simpson (Uni Sydney) and Patrick McConvell (AIATSIS): Aboriginal Child language acquisition project
Trevor Johnson (Macquarie): AUSLAN dictionary
Linda Barwick and Nick Thieberger (PARADISEC): Creating new research objects from archival sources
Silvia Pfeiffer (Centie/CSIRO): Annodex
Jane Hunter and Ronald Schroeter (Uni Qld): Vannotea
Gary Holton (University of Alaska): Prospects for annotatable online data on Alaskan indigenous languages
This conference is funded by the ARC SRI E-Research Initiative and supported by HCSNet.
