HCSNet Update Newsletter Volume 4 Number 9Tuesday, 4th March 2008
In this issueParticipant SpotlightShigeki Amitani, University of Technology Sydney
Research area: Intelligent Systems - Human-Computer InteractionI have been working in the field called "creativity support", especially in terms of designing, developing and evaluating systems that supports human creative activities. My current concentration is on developing "a generative website" where public audiences can post their own contents, especially videos, and then the website weaves the posted contents into "stories", meaningful sequences of information. The generated stories are: (1) dynamic contents that enable visitors to enjoy different contents each time when they visit; and (2) stimulants to visitors who are developing their own contents further based on what the others have created. This can lead to a creative SNS where people can communicate and create based on what they share. For more details about my work, visit: http://shigekifactory.com. Thanks!

Best Wishes to Kym BuckleyKym Buckley, HCSNet Administrative Coordinator at UWS, will be commencing maternity leave from mid-March 2008, and we'd like to wish her all the very best for her new arrival. Kym has provided exceptional organisational and administrative support to the Executive and to participants at our conferences and Priority Area workshops. We hope Kym might be able to drop in to visit us at SummerFest '08 and we look forward to her return in 2009. HCSNet Annual Report 2007A reminder that we are now in the process of putting together HCSNet's Annual Report to the ARC covering our activities in the 2007 calendar year. An important part of this report discusses how the world is different as a consequence of the Network's existence. So, we're looking for comments on how HCSNet has impacted on your research: ideas, interactions, seminar invitations, collaborations, proposals, publications, and anything else that would not otherwise have happened. We'd be very grateful if you could spend a few minutes thinking about this and forward comments to info@hcsnet.edu.au. Thank you!
