Research area: Language Processing and Linguistics - Psycholinguistics

The use of online psycholinguistic tasks and event-related brain potentials (ERPs) to elucidate the temporal structure of lexical-semantic and syntactic processing deficits in neurologically impaired populations. Investigating cognitive-linguistic profiles of communication impairment in dementia. Development of a model of the basal ganglia's role in language processing. Investigating neuropharmacological modulation of language processing.

HCSNet Summer School Survey

HCSNet-backed LIEF Grant Application on Corpus Collection

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, it has been proposed that HCSNet participants submit a cross-university application for ARC LIEF (Linkage Infrastructure and Equipment Fund) grant funds to support data collection for the development of corpora that would then be used as an infrastructure resource for a number of parties. A meeting will be held on Friday, 16 March 2007 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at the University of Western Sydney (Bankstown), Building 23, Conference Room 5, to discuss the grant application. Please advise Rosemary Eliott (reliott@ics.mq.edu.au) if you wish to attend this meeting.

HCSNet Research Lab/Centre/School/Industry Facility Database

We are currently in the process of adding a new database of research laboratories and centres to our website. The information will be used to spotlight labs and centres throughout the year in our weekly newsletter, and will also assist with the implementation of several of our new programs: the International Visiting Speakers Program, HCSNet Early Career Researcher Placement Award and HCSNet Graduate Student Placement Award. If you would like your lab or centre to be listed, please send the full name of the lab and an appropriate URL to newsletter@hcsnet.edu.au; this invitation is extended to both academic and industry facilities.
