About HCSNet Update

HCSNet Update is a weekly electronic newsletter distributed to all participants. Each week, the newsletter spotlights an HCSNet member, provides news of relevance to the human communication science community, and lists upcoming conferences and workshops.

HCSNet members get the newsletter automatically. If you're not receiving the newsletter, please contact webmaster@hcsnet.edu.au so we can fix the problem.

Contributing to the Newsletter

Contributions to the HCSNet newsletter are welcome. If you wish to have a News item featured in the newsletter, send the following to newsletter@hcsnet.edu.au with the subject line 'News Item':

  • A short title for the news item (typically no more than 10 words maximum)
  • The text of the news item, which should be no more than 125 words maximum. The text should include a hyperlink to a web page or a mail address from which further information can be obtained.
  • A date beyond which there is no point in us publishing the news item (so that, if we do not have space in the next issue, we can determine whether it is worth publishing later).

We are not able to publish news items that do not conform to these requirements. We reserve the right not to publish any provided news item for reasons of space or lack of appropriateness; the editor's decision on publication is final.

We do not normally publish notifications of events as news items, unless they are HCSNet-sponsored events. If you want to make the community aware of a relevant workshop or conference, you can submit conference announcements for incorporation into the HCSNet events database, which means that important dates (specifically, submission dates and event dates) will feature in the newsletter's 'Upcoming Deadlines' sections for one month (four issues) before the date in question. Please send any announcements you wish listed to newsletter@hcsnet.edu.au, with the subject line 'For the Events Database'.
